The namesake of the award, Mary Jo Hanover, was a long-term, highly engaged IAMC member who passed away in 2012. Thompson becomes the 10th recipient of the award, which was first presented in 2013.

Thompson began his career with the RGP in 2011. During his tenure overseeing business development, he has helped in the attraction and expansion of hundreds of economic development projects, including Amazon, Whirlpool, GM-Powertrain, First Solar and Marathon Petroleum. In just the last five years, the RGP, in collaboration with partners across the regional and state levels, has secured more than 23,000 new jobs to Northwest Oho, with total investment exceeding $13 billion.

Being recognized by industry peers speaks volumes to Gary’s work and accomplishments. It also sends a clear message to businesses about the level of professionalism and type of service they can expect in working with the RGP.”
