Northwest Ohio will soon welcome construction of a new spec building, offering potential businesses another attractive option for immediate startup of operations.

Robinson Investments, LTD will soon begin construction on a 100,000 square-foot spec building in Van Wert. Completion of the building is expected by early fall.

The project is being supported through the Ohio Site Inventory Program (OSIP), an innovative initiative created by JobsOhio to boost the competitiveness of the state in competing for economic development projects. The $50 million program offers grants and low-interest loans to support speculative site and building development projects.

This marks the third regional spec building for Robinson Investments, which has constructed and filled two other spec buildings in Findlay and Van Wert.

“The OSIP program is 100% absolutely fundamental to our success. The OSIP funding helps bridge some of the gaps and nuances which are critical toward successful completion of the project.”

– Jason Black, Business Development Manager, Robinson Investments

Though the program began just two years ago, Northwest Ohio has been quick to capitalize on funding opportunities for new product across the 17-county region. Already, OSIP has awarded dollars for nine Northwest Ohio projects – roughly 900,000 square feet of new, modern buildings. Two of those have already seen spec buildings developed and become occupied with end users. In addition, there is another 1 million square feet of potential development in the pipeline.

“This new spec building will provide Van Wert a strong option for businesses to grow and thrive. We appreciate the work of our partners to establish this attractive facility, which will provide companies the opportunity to quickly invest and create jobs in Van Wert County.”
