A transformative $10 billion investment for a new data center campus in Van Wert highlighted a vigorous second quarter of economic activity, according to the Regional Growth Partnership.

The RGP reported the creation of nearly 1,250 new jobs by companies across Northwest Ohio in the second quarter, with corporate investment toward those projects of $10.23 billion.

“The RGP and our regional partners have committed to developing and nurturing a welcoming business climate that fosters corporate investment,” said Dean Monske, president and CEO of the Regional Growth Partnership. “Companies are taking advantage, evidenced by more than 21,000 new jobs added over the past several years.”

With the Van Wert project, QTS Data Centers will create 200 new jobs and generate nearly $200 million in tax revenue over the next 20 years. The project will also bring more than 1,500 construction jobs in building seven data center facilities across more than 900 acres.

Overall in the first half of 2026, the RGP has reported nearly 1,500 new jobs across the region, with capital investment approaching $11 billion.

“The first half of 2026 has been another record-setting chapter for the Regional Growth Partnership and our local economic development partners, featuring nine new company locations to Northwest Ohio,” said Chase Eikenbay, vice president of project management. “These wins for our region reinforce our globally competitive supply chain, and the strength of our communities, our sites, and our collaborative, one-team approach.”

Within those first-half results, the RGP facilitated nine JobsOhio Small Business Grants, awarding $275,000 in grant funding. This program is designed to help small businesses in targeted sectors expand operations, create jobs and make fixed-asset investments.
