The Kalmbach Family, owners of Kalmbach Feeds, Inc., announced plans for a significant expansion of their campus of manufacturing facilities in Wyandot County, Ohio. The expansion project includes the ground-up construction of a new manufacturing facility for the newest member of the Kalmbach Family of brands, K9 & Kin Brands. The facility meets a growing demand for premium high-performing and cost-effective dog and cat foods.
“For generations, our family has been committed to providing the highest quality nutrition for people, livestock, and pets. By expanding our footprint here in Wyandot County, we aren’t just building a new plant, we are strengthening our commitment to our local community and ensuring that the next generation of pet owners has access to nutrition they can trust.”
– Paul Kalmbach, Jr., Kalmbach Family member
Construction on the new K9 & Kin Brands facility is expected to be complete in 2027 and will create 213 new jobs at the company.
Total capital investment of $125 million at the Kalmbach facility shows the company’s ongoing commitment to its Wyandot County location and history.
Established in 1963, Kalmbach Feeds, Inc. was founded by Milton Kalmbach as a small grind and mix mill. The family’s enterprise is now owned by Milton’s son and grandson, and has grown to include commercial operations across the country. Kalmbach Family of brands is headquartered just north of Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
“The Wyandot County Office of Economic Development (WCOED) and its member partners are proud to support the continued growth and success of Kalmbach’s local operations. The new K9 & Kin Brands facility establishes a new benchmark as the largest single private expansion investment in Wyandot County’s history,” stated WCOED Executive Director Greg Moon.
Both JobsOhio and its Northwest Ohio regional partner, the Regional Growth Partnership, provided support for the project. The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a Job Creation Tax Credit for the company.
“The Kalmbach Family’s $125 million investment in Wyandot County is a testament to what makes Ohio an ideal place to grow a business – a skilled workforce, a strong manufacturing heritage, and communities that support long-term success. This expansion will create more than 200 jobs for Northwest Ohioans and reinforces Ohio’s position as a leader in food and agricultural manufacturing.”
