As economic development leaders both regionally and statewide, the Regional Growth Partnership and JobsOhio are committed to the attraction of new jobs, investment, and sustainable growth across the state.

Equally, both entities are committed to pushing forward initiatives and programs which enhance the quality of life for all Ohioans. With that, the RGP and JobsOhio recently joined together to contribute toward a Habitat for Humanity project in Sandusky County. Representatives from both groups volunteered to help build a new home for a family of six.

“We could not think of a better team-building project than to help build a safe and comfortable home for a single mother and her children."

– Mike Jay, Director of Strategic Networks, Regional Growth Partnership

A dozen staff members between the two organizations contributed their building skills over several shifts. The work included the construction of an outdoor storage shed. As part of JobsOhio’s Charitable Giving Initiative, the RGP considered volunteer opportunities within the Northwest Ohio region, ultimately choosing the Habitat project in Fremont.

Mike Jay, director of strategic networks at the Regional Growth Partnership, said economic development includes more than just helping companies grow, but also supporting communities and the people within. “When you can get outside and get hands-on within the community, sweat a little bit and make a difference, that’s very fulfilling,” Jay said.

JobsOhio has emphasized team-building activities which positively impact communities. Volunteering with its regional partners will continue, as the RGP will seek out another community-development undertaking in 2023.
