A diversified technology company with headquarters in India has announced plans to locate its first U.S. facility in Northwest Ohio.

P.M. Electric-Auto (PMEA) will invest more than $5 million and create 100 new jobs in locating a 65,000-square-foot facility in north Toledo.

While PMEA is recognized as a premier leader in the manufacturing of sheet metal components, related assemblies, torque tubes for the Solar industry, precise stamping products for Automobile parts, LED lighting, cleanroom partition panels, and laboratory furniture, this new Toledo facility will manufacture solar panel structural Torque Tube used in trackers. The decision to expand into the U.S. was driven by new contracts the company secured with a California-based renewable energy firm. PMEA currently operates 11 facilities in India with more than 500 employees.

The company noted it was a competitive project with Michigan, Texas, and Arizona. In stating the key factors in the decision to locate here, the company cited the Toledo region as a strong source for securing a manufacturing workforce.

The company noted Northwest Ohio has a proud history in manufacturing, which provided assurance that PMEA will not have any challenges in finding quality candidates. In addition, both the University of Toledo and the University of Michigan offer outstanding engineering programs which will benefit PMEA, the company said.

Logistics also played a role in the site location decision. PMEA will be shipping in components from India, so the proximity to the port of Toledo was important.
