An industrial leader in sustainability has announced plans for a new processing facility in Northwest Ohio.

Trucent Renewable Chemicals (TRC) will invest more than $10 million at the company’s new site in Van Wert, creating at least 21 new jobs.

TRC, a division of Trucent with headquarters in Dexter, Mich., processes vegetable oils into renewable oleo-chemicals which are shipped to customers for a wide variety of applications, including machining fluids, paints, adhesives, plastics, and animal feed. The new facility will allow for increased production of existing products, expansion into new markets, and development of new products.

“Northwest Ohio is the intersection of the agricultural and industrial markets, and that is a key reason we located in this area.”

- James Bleyer, TRC Director

Bleyer added this will be the company’s first facility to commercialize TRC’s proprietary technology to process of raw vegetable oils into chemical intermediaries. He said Ohio’s workforce is highly respected and can handle the production requirements.

“This region has an industrial base with a workforce trained for these types of operations,” Bleyer said.

Trucent’s reliable fluid separation technology serves a broad range of industries where it provides industrial, bioprocess and food/beverage solutions. The company employs 120 people across its different divisions.

This competitive project received support from JobsOhio, the Regional Growth Partnership and Van Wert Area Economic Development.

"We and our partners at the RGP welcome Trucent Renewable Chemicals’ newest investment in Ohio, which brings an innovative company and 21 new jobs to Van Wert. With talent from Northwest Ohio, the new location will advance Trucent's cutting-edge work to convert undervalued feedstock into chemicals that can be utilized across sector lines, which reduces waste and increases efficiency."

- J.P. Nauseef, JobsOhio President and CEO

Start up at the Van Wert facility is expected to begin early spring, according to company officials.
