One of the nation’s largest drug retailing chains recently announced a major expansion of its warehouse and distribution center in Perrysburg Township.
Citing expected opportunities through new growth, Walgreens will add 350 new jobs with a 380,000 square-foot expansion of its current facility. The company is investing $80 million for the project, adding to its existing 650,000 square-foot building.
Walgreens opened the warehouse/distribution center in 2003 and currently employs approximately 680 people.
The Regional Growth Partnership, JobsOhio and the Wood County Economic Development Commission worked collaboratively in moving this project forward. Along with local incentives, the company received approval for a Jobs Creation Tax Credit.
The project is expected to be completed next spring.
