Two Foreign Companies to Open New Facilities in Northwest Ohio

Two new projects in Northwest Ohio are expected to create more than 120 new jobs with investments exceeding $16 million. The announcements came following the Ohio Tax Credit Authority’s monthly meeting to review economic development proposals brought forth by JobsOhio and its regional partners.

Treves Incorporated, a leading automotive supplier of acoustic treatments and interiors, will invest $11.35 million to open a new production facility in Fostoria. The company, with headquarters in Paris, France, will lease a 40,000 square-foot spec building, with plans to expand that facility to 120,000 square feet.

The RGP, JobsOhio and Fostoria Economic Development Group worked collaboratively in helping land this project. Treves received a Jobs Creation Tax Credit as well as a grant for machinery and equipment.

“Along with the Regional Growth Partnership, we are thrilled that Treves Incorporated chose to establish its first Midwest manufacturing facility in Fostoria, where it will create more than 90 jobs,” said JobsOhio Senior Managing Director for Automotive Kristi Tanner.

“Treves is an established European auto OEM supplier that supports many global brands, and we look forward to working with the company as it grows its U.S. operations here in Ohio,” Tanner added.

MEK Van Wert will invest $5 million and is expected to create 30 new jobs upon opening its operation in Van Wert. MEK manufactures machined parts and provides engineering expertise. This marks the Spanish company’s first U.S. production facility.

The Regional Growth Partnership and JobsOhio worked closely in securing a Jobs Creation Tax Credit for the company. Van Wert’s economic development group also helped in moving the project forward.

“Having an international company locate their first U.S. facility in Van Wert is a great testament to the business environment of Northwest Ohio,” said the Regional Growth Partnership’s President and CEO Dean Monske. “The RGP is proud to have worked with local and state officials in bringing this new business to our region.”

The Regional Growth Partnership is a private, nonprofit development corporation dedicated to fostering local, national and international economic growth opportunities for Northwest Ohio. The RGP serves as Northwest Ohio’s network partner for JobsOhio.
