OHIO GRANTS ALLIANCE CONCLUDES AFTER DRIVING BILLIONS IN FEDERAL INVESTMENT TO OHIO
The Ohio Grants Alliance (OGA), a statewide initiative led by the Ohio Business Roundtable in collaboration with regional business associations, is concluding its work after three years of helping Ohio compete for—and win—major federal grant opportunities.
“The Ohio Grants Alliance showed that when Ohio brings its best ideas together, we can be a leader on the national stage,” said Pat Tiberi, president and CEO of the Ohio Business Roundtable. “OGA reinforced Ohio’s competitiveness, expanded partnerships across our regions, and helped position the state for transformational federal investment.”
Launched in January 2023, OGA was created to help Ohio organizations navigate new and complex federal programs. The initiative connected businesses, universities, local governments, economic development groups, and nonprofits with the shared goal of maximizing Ohio’s success in securing federal funding. Founding partners included the Greater Cleveland Partnership, Columbus Partnership, Appalachian Partnership, Dayton Development Coalition, Regional Growth Partnership and Cincinnati Business Committee.
OGA served as a statewide hub for identifying high-value grant opportunities, coordinating multi-region coalitions, providing subject-matter expertise, and tracking federal agency priorities. Its work made Ohio’s proposals more competitive and helped communities access funding that may otherwise have been out of reach.
Over its three-year lifespan, OGA played a central role in helping Ohio organizations secure billions of dollars in federal investment. It strengthened relationships across regions, built a statewide network of collaboration, and helped establish systems that will continue to benefit Ohio long after the initiative concludes.
Beyond the individual awards, OGA fundamentally changed how Ohio approaches federal competitiveness. By aligning state, regional and private-sector leaders under a coordinated strategy, OGA created a model that other states are now examining as they seek to improve their own federal grant success.
What began as a collaborative experiment has proven highly successful. Through shared commitment and strong partnerships, OGA demonstrated how business, government and education can work together to win transformational federal investment. While the Ohio Grants Alliance concludes its formal chapter, the systems, relationships and successes it helped build will continue to shape Ohio’s economic future for years to come.
