A leading automotive supplier specializing in thermoplastic injection molding has announced plans for a new manufacturing facility in Toledo. Axiom Group Inc., with headquarters in Ontario, Canada, will open its first U.S. facility at Overland Industrial Park. The company expects to invest $20 million and create at least 250 new jobs.

The project is contingent on incentive approvals from JobsOhio and the Ohio Tax Credit Authority.

Company officials highlighted the Toledo region’s skilled talent pool, excellent transportation system and the proximity/central location in the North American automotive corridor as primary reasons for the decision to locate here.

“We are pleased to invest significant resources, capital, and technology within the United States of America,” said Perry Rizzo, President & CEO, Axiom Group. “We see investing in Toledo as a fantastic location for our latest facility and we are pleased with the government support and the ‘Open for Business’ attitude.”

The Overland property also positively influenced the site selection process because of the park’s professional development, vision, and location, Rizzo added. Axiom will be the fourth business to locate at Overland since remediation and redevelopment efforts began on the site more than a decade ago.

In addition, Axiom expressed extreme gratitude to the economic development partners at the local and state levels for their commitment to helping the company move forward toward its long-term goals and objectives. These partners included JobsOhio, The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, the City of Toledo, Lucas County and the Regional Growth Partnership.

Construction is expected to begin soon with operations beginning in 2020.

Lucas County:

“The announcement by Axiom Group Inc. to locate its first U.S. production facility in the Overland Industrial Park completes the puzzle that began nearly 10 years ago when the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority had the vision to repurpose the old Jeep factory site. We are excited for the role of Lucas County Builds to provide the necessary funding that was needed for this project to become a reality. The commitment to purchase the derelict factory, tear down the buildings, and invest in the infrastructure for an industrial park has paid off with hundreds of jobs created initially by Dana and later by Detroit Manufacturing Systems and Faurecia.”
