One of Northwest Ohio’s major employers recently announced a significant investment bringing new jobs and production to the region.

Menard, Inc., a leading home improvement center, has begun construction of a new facility at its Williams County location. The company will invest $28 million to build a production line to manufacture interior and exterior pre-hung doors.

The project is expected to add 85-90 new jobs at the Holiday City location, adding more than $3 million of new payroll.

“We’ve been good citizens since we opened this facility back in 2007 and thought it made good business sense to build this manufacturing plant next to our existing distribution center and manufacturing facilities at this location,” said Jeff Abbott, spokesman for Menards.

The new facility will be located alongside its existing manufacturing and distribution complex.

Construction on the original 700,000 square-foot center began in 2006, which included the hiring of 200 people. Then in 2011, Menard initiated a $70 million expansion that created another 350 jobs. The company also has an adjacent retail center in Holiday City.

The Regional Growth Partnership and JobsOhio worked together in moving this project forward. Incentive details will be made public after a final agreement is executed. Williams County and its Economic Development Corporation also collaborated in providing an incentive package.

Construction is already under way and the new site is expected to open in mid-2018.
