Dear Community Partner,

We invite you to join The University of Toledo as we celebrate the award of a $1,952,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration on Monday, August 6, 2007. This grant serves as a catalyst for achieving the latest milepost in The University of Toledo Science and Technology Corridor as we break ground for the construction of new roads and infrastructure in the south perimeter of the Corridor.

The Honorable Marcy Kaptur will join us in kicking off the celebration, as will Mr. C. Robert Sawyer, the Regional Director of the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration.

The mission of the University of Toledo Science and Technology Corridor,“Where Research and Innovation Mean Business,” is to collaboratively grow, diversify, and transform the regional economy by facilitating the development and attraction of science and technology-based organizations and by applying the knowledge resources of The University of Toledo to enhance the global competitiveness of the area and its employers.

The ground-breaking will be held on August 6, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at the Health Science Campus softball field just east of The University of Toledo Medical Center on Arlington Avenue. Click this link for a printable PDF map of the event. I hope you will mark your calendar and plan to be with us on August 6 for this historic moment. If you have any questions or need additional information please contact the Office of Special Events or call 419-530-7965. Parking is convenient and unlimited. Please feel free to stop even if it’s for a brief visit.

Sincerely,

Lloyd A. Jacobs, M.D.
